Meghdoot 7 : Point of Sale Submit Account Error & MSDTC Services Error

Problem : After installation SQL Express and M.M.7.0

Go to Services (Control Panel-- Administrative Tools--Services ) and then start the service 'Distributed Transaction Coordinator' (MSDTC) with start up type as 'Automatic' and Log On As 'Network Service' as shown in the attachment. Then execute the below mentioned Query relating to 'RPC' error to solve the problem.

Non appearance of offices in RNet enabled offices list

On Non appearance of Post offices follow the below steps provided by CEPT PTC Mysore

Please check the following points

* Local Meghdoot Applications Pincode and Non Delivery Code is matching with R Net Central server master data.
* Once Articles are fetched in Despatch application for Bag Closing booked articles will reflect in R Net MIS.
* Check R Net Communication is running.
* Your Office may not be Using Barcodes for Booking.
* If Point of Sale installed for Speed Post then your office booking data will not reflect on R Net MIS so follow the steps given below

1 Login to Point of Sale Supervisor
2 Select menu My Office -> Environment
3 Change Office Type as Post Office

Despatch Problems

1)After updating megh7 there is no provision to close the service insured letter.

2)After upgradation of MM 7.0, we cannot fetch the articles returned by BOs in Despatch module(Fetch from Postman option)..

This is the solution received from PTC, Mysore for "Returned BO articles fetching problem in Depatch module"

Please follow below steps.
1. Download the attached files.
2. Take counter database backup.
3. Rename the existing Despatch.exe
4. Run the attached exl file using script tool.
5. Copy the Despatch_exe file to application folder and rename it to Despatch.Exe.

Speednet Update dated 23.7.2011

Updation in SpeedNet 3.1.2 (23/07/2011):

This Release is specifically for providing:

i) Provisions for Prepaid/Advance Customers with Booking/Billing/Reports options.

ii) Enhanced features for Collection Agents including Billing w.r.t. acceptance of articles from Prepaid/Advance/BNPL Customers.

iii) Newly Installed and configured SpeedNet not to have BOs in Office Master - In compliance with the requirement of adding all of BOs of Pin Code Directory into SPC Site Office master data, latest BO data is available at SPC Site.
For more details, please see the New installation Notes as to how to update the latest BO data into local database.

iv) Weight Limit for Foreign EMS Articles as per Dte Lr No. 22-1/2011-DA dated 22/06/2011 is provided.

v) EPP Related : -
EPP Booking for BNPL Articles with Circle allotted Barcode prefix validation, EPP Distance Configuration for Cities, closing separate EPP Bag with EPP Articles was already provided vide release dated 20/05/2011. Delivery of EPP Articles was already available in the SpeedNet earlier version and the same is continued.
In this release we have provided – Circle Wise EPP Bag Barcode Series validation as per Dte Lr. No 10-20/2008 BD&MD dated 06/06/2011.

vi) Article/ Bag Barcode validation for Print To Post Centers who book and bag UID Articles with U series Barcodes as per Dte Lr. No. 51-53/2010-BD&MD dated 14/07/2011

vii) Handling of U Series Barcoded UID Articles at Delivery Offices: Offices other than Print To Post Centers can receive the Bags from Print to Post Centers and receive the articles, issue to post man for delivery or send for other offices for delivery with U series Barcodes.

viii)BO Bag Close with UID Bundles/Articles at Delivery Office.
When Print to Post Centers close Bags with Bundles of UID Articles to Delivery offices, there may be also Bundles for BOs of those Delivery Offices.

As those UID Bundles shouldn’t be opened at Delivery Office – BO Bag Close with UID Bundles/ Articles if any sent loose, is provided.

ix) MNOP Hub Master Data : Latest revisions to the Hub Master are available in this release. Supervisor has to use the option Master-> Hub Details and Update option to get the latest data. Latest data can be viewed thereafter.

Earlier through this option all the SOs and BOs were available.And we have to select particular BO.

But in this update a new option provided "BOS OF MY OFFICE ONLY" as check box.While selecting this option which found in Delivery->Invoicing->
SpeedPost Articles-> Articles for other offices we can sort out the BOs of the our SO only.

But this option was a untold one in Readme of Speednet update 23/07/2011

Enable the (Hidden) Administrator Account on Windows 7 or Vista

Many people familiar with prior versions of Windows are curious what happened to the built-in Administrator account that was always created by default. Does this account still exist, and how can you access it?

The account is created in Windows 7 or Vista, but since it’s not enabled you can’t use it. If you are troubleshooting something that needs to run as administrator, you can enable it with a simple command.

Note: You really shouldn’t use this account for anything other than troubleshooting. In fact, you probably shouldn’t use it at all.

Enable Built-in Administrator Account
First you’ll need to open a command prompt in administrator mode by right-clicking and choosing “Run as administrator” (or use the Ctrl+Shift+Enter shortcut from the search box)
Now type the following command:

net user administrator /active:yes

You should see a message that the command completed successfully. Log out, and you’ll now see the Administrator account as a choice. (Note that the screenshots are from Vista, but this works on Windows 7)

You’ll note that there’s no password for this account, so if you want to leave it enabled you should change the password.

Disable Built-in Administrator Account
Make sure you are logged on as your regular user account, and then open an administrator mode command prompt as above. Type the following command:
net user administrator /active:no

The administrator account will now be disabled, and shouldn’t show up on the login screen anymore.

Solution for adding BOs in Speednet

The offices using Speed net may do the following.

Go to Supervisor ->Master->Offices->View Linked Offices data


In the view please see the column - Office Type.-.

a) If some BOs are already appearing then

1. Re- install Speed Net .The latest version is available at
ftp://ftp.ptcinfo.org/SpeedNet (Speednet Version dated 20/05/2011)

2.Go to https://services.ptcmysore.gov.in/spc

3.Log in with the SPC user credentials.

4.Download the circle master data.(File download link available below

5.Update in the speed net.(Local)

This will bring the complete new list. If you do not re-install then
existing BO data will get mixed up with new Office data. And it is
risky.

b)If you do not see the BOs in the list then

1.Download the Circle Office data from SPC site and upload to local

database through Communication Module.*

2. We presume you use the latest version of speed net. If not Follow

steps in a)

Speednet update dated 20.5.11

Speednet Update dtd 20.5.11 had been released

Speed Net Team, Centre For Excellence In Postal Technology, PTC, Mysore is releasing Speed Net Ver 3.1.2 Updated Version on 20/05/2011.

This Release is specifically for providing EPP Booking for BNPL Articles with Circle allotted Barcode prefix validation, EPP Distance Configuration for Cities, closing separate EPP Bag with EPP Articles.

Delivery of EPP Articles was already available in the SpeedNet earlier version and the same is continued.

Note: 1: If SpeedNet 3.1.2 is not upgraded with 21/03/2011 or later updates then DB Upgradation should be first done through Database Workshop Module using the DB Updation SQl Scripts and then do the updation through Exl file.)


Note:2 :Those MBCs and BNPL Uinits who are permitted from directorate to close Direct Bags should run the Direct Bag Script received by them from PTC Mysore, after the DB Upgradation as mentioned above to get the Direct Bagging provision.


Please note that – this version can also be used by all other offices using SpeedNet 3.1.2 - which have not used earlier SpeedNet 3.1.2 updates kept in FTP and also for Fresh Installations. EPP provisions of this version is only an Add On provision to the already existing features in SpeedNet.

Automate backups of databases in SQL Server Express Editions

You need to take the following 3 steps to backup your SQL Server databases using Windows Task Scheduler

Step 1: Using SQL Server Management Studio express or Sqlcmd create the following stored procedure in your master database:       Stored Procedure:- Download

 

Step 2: In a text editor create a batch file that is named sqlbackup.bat and then copy the text from one of the following examples depending on your scenario into that file:

Example1: Full Backups of ALL databases in local named instance of SQLEXPRESS using Windows Authentication
// sqlbackup.bat
sqlcmd -S .\EXPRESS –E -Q "EXEC sp_BackupDatabases @backupLocation='D:\SQLBackups\', @backupType='F'" 
 Example2: Differential Backups of ALL databases in local named instance of SQLEXPRESS using SQLLogin and its password
// sqlbackup.bat
sqlcmd -U SQLLogin -P password -S .\SQLEXPRESS -Q "EXEC sp_BackupDatabases  @backupLocation ='D:\SQLBackups', @BackupType=’D’"
 Note: The SQLLogin should at least have Backup Operator role at SQL Server.


Example3: Log Backups of ALL databases in local named instance of SQLEXPRESS using Windows Authentication

Example4: Full Backups of database USERDB in local named instance of SQLEXPRESS using Windows Authentication

Similarly you can take differential and log backup of USERDB by passing in ‘D’ and ‘L’ respectively for the @backupType parameter.

Step 3: Schedule a job using Windows Task Scheduler to execute the batch file created in Step 2. To do this use the following procedure:

1. On the computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server Express, click Start , point to All Programs , point to Accessories , point to System Tools , and then click Scheduled Tasks. 
2. Double-click Add Scheduled Task . 
3. In the Scheduled Task Wizard, click Next . 
4. Click Browse , click the sqlbackup.bat file that you created in step 2, and then click Open . 
5. Type SQLBACKUP for the name of the task, and then click Daily . Then, click Next . 
6. Specify information for a schedule to run the Task. We recommend that you run this at least once every day. Then, click Next .
7. In the Enter the user name field and in the Enter the password field, type a username and a password. Then, click Next .  Please note that this user should at least be assigned the BackupOperator role at SQL Server level if you are using one of the batch files in example 1, 3 and 4.
8. Click Finish . 
9. Execute the scheduled task at least once to ensure that the backup is created successfully.

Note: The folder for SQLCMD executable is generally in the Path variables for the server after SQL Server is installed, but in cases where the Path variable does not list this folder, you can find it under \90\Tools\Binn (For example: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn).
 Please note the following when using the procedure documented in this article:

• Windows Task Scheduler service must be running at the time when the job is scheduled to run. It is recommended that you set the startup type for this service as Automatic. This ensures that the service will be running even on a restart.
• There should be enough space on the drive where the backups are being written to. It is recommended that you clean the old files in the backup folder on a regular basis to ensure that you do not run out of disk space. The script does not contain the logic to cleanup old files.

Convert FAT to NTFS

Standard Windows utility that is called CONVERT serves this purpose


Just go to the Command Prompt and execute the command:

C:\> CONVERT C: /fs:ntfs


Where C: is a name of the drive you want to convert.


After machine re-boot conversion process will start and you'll have your FAT32 converted to NTFS without of data loss.

R Net for Post Office

R Net is mainly designed to deal with the Register Articles booked with the Barcode for the tracking like Speed Articles. R Net have two parts R Net Client (will be installed at RMS offices) and R Net Communication (at RMS and Post Offices). Both parts have separate configuration which needs to be done as per the installation site i.e. Post Office or Sorting Office. 




RNet will be implemented by end of this month.
